How to block ATM cum Debit card of SBI

Some times we misplace our ATM cum debit card or it gets stolen we need to immediately block that card so that it is not misused if it goes into the wrong hands. To block ATM cum Debit  card of SBI you will need to immediately call at their help desk number 1800-112211. When you call this number they will ask for the 16 digit card number its expiration date etc. Most of the time you will not be having these details as you neither remember these details nor have you noted down these details securely.

So the first thing to secure the debit card is to note down all its details somewhere securely so that they become handy is such a situation arise.  Never note down your ATM pin just remember it. If you do not have the card details then while calling the help desk tell them your SBI account number against which the  debit card was issued. TO verify your credentials they will ask some questions associated with your account which you have provided during account opening like date of birth, address, mothers maiden name etc. They will never ask for ATM pin and never disclose this to anyone.

On successful authentication your ATM card will be blocked immediately and you will be issued a complaint number to followup with bank for later use. Kindly note that once you have blocked your SBI debit card it will not be revoked, you will have to get a new debit card issued.
